Ground breaking for Meadowbrook Swim and Tennis took place on
May 4th 1964 and was preceded by several years of labor and recruitment by
Mr. Leo Kohler, known as Mr. Tennis on the Monterey peninsula, whose dream
was to provide a place to teach and play tennis in a club like setting.
His dream came true as the first club of its kind on the Monterey Peninsula was
completed, and the club quickly became a popular tennis and swim destination for locals.
