From Coach Juan (26th February 2019) ![]() Player Progress Report Player: Arthur Wu Season:Spring 2019 Level: Advanced High Performance Date: 1/28/19 Coach: Juan Munoz Next Season Clinic Level: TBD Player Notes: What is going well: In the short time I have taught Arthur, he has shown a great ability to really focus on instructions that are given and is a pleasure to have in class. He has a perfect attitude in that he is ready to learn and work hard during each drill. While his technique isn’t perfect yet, he has a good base to really improve this year. Below is one of many examples of how he is on the right path to success. As you can see here, he is properly stepping into his backhand, and the racquet angle and arm extension are where they are supposed to be. Most of Arthur’s strokes are close, if not already technically sound. Though, there are some improvements we can make in other areas.
Player Notes: What needs to be worked on: In contrast, there are also some areas that need to be worked on. As you see in this next image, we have a few issues going on. One, his racquet angle is too closed, and if you notice, there is not a step-in this time (compared to his backhand). Additionally, on his serve (see image below) you can see that his ball toss and racquet are both too low. This will usually cause the ball to drop and hit the net. Though, just like the forehand volley and other strokes, this will get remedied in time...with hard work and practice.
Player Notes: Goals for next season: Arthur is on his way to being quite a solid tennis player. Most of his issues are smaller issues that will get fixed with proper instructions and practice. For the next season we will be focusing more on his footwork (most tennis issues are footwork related) and also increasing his fitness levels. We look forward to seeing Arthur improve during the next spring and summer sessions. |
