Pool and SPA Testing
(as mandated by the Monterey County Health Department and the State of California)
(as mandated by the Monterey County Health Department and the State of California)
- The 15 gallon drum is topped off with chlorine every morning. (Depending on how low the drum is will depend on how many gallons of chlorine is needed to top off the drum.
- Chemical levels in the Pool and SPA are tested every morning, using the test kit that is supplied by management, and stored in the pool and spa equipment building. (please refer to the video below)
- The ideal pH level is 7.4-7.6. If the pH level is above that range, then Muriatic acid is added directly into the Pool or SPA, generally 1/4 cup. The amount of muriatic acid added may vary, depending on how far off the levels are from the ideal mark. If the pH is below the ideal mark, then Soda Ash is added directly to the Pool or SPA, generally 1 cup is added. The amount of Soda Ash may vary as well, depending on the level reading.
- If the chlorine levels are reading consistently high or low, the dial on the pool and/or spa chlorinator (pump) may be turned up or down, by one number, regulating the amount of chlorine that is going into the spa/pool. (Example: number on chlorinator dial reads 5, and the chlorine test level reads 2.0. The dial may be turned down to read 4.5 or 4, and another chlorine test should be taken after the filtering cycle is completed, (usually after 2 hours). When handling any chemicals, wearing the proper protective gear/clothing is MANDATORY at ALL TIMES.
- The temperature of the Pool is generally kept at between 82 and 83 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature of the SPA is generally kept at 102 degrees Fahrenheit. These temperatures may fluctuate depending on the time of day and may change after certain weather conditions. The temperature controls for both the pool and the spa are located on each of their prospective heaters. (Please note: The main pool and kiddie pool are controlled by the same chlorinator and heater. The spa has its own chlorinator and heater. All heaters and chlorinators are labeled to avoid confusion.)
